Did You Know???

To find the CRA that has a report , a consumer should contact the CRA's listed in the YellowPages under " Credit" or "Credit Rating and Reporting." Each should be called until all the agencies maintaining the consumers file have been found. The three major national credit bureaus are listed above. In addition, anyone who takes action against a consumer in response to a report supplied by a CRA-such as denyi8ng an application for credit, insurance, or employment-must give the consumer the name, address, and telephone number of the CRA that provided the report.

Consumers have certain rights:

*The right to get a free copy of their credit reports each year to verify that the correct information is reported. Florida consumers became eligible for this right on June 1, 2005.

*The right to inspect their report and get a list of everyone who has requested a report within the past year (two years for employment-related request).

There is no charge for the report requested if a company takes adverse action against the applicant, such as denying and application for credit, insurance, or employment and the report is requested within 60 days of receiving the notice of the action.

Both the CRA and the information provider must correct inaccurate or incomplete information in a credit report. The consumer must contact both the CRA and the information provider.


Megan's Law Disclosure

Megan's Law is legislation designed to protect the public by notifying communities when a convicted sex offender moves into an area. Information including photos, identities, and addresses is available for the Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) at 850-410-7000 or by going to www.fdle.state.fl.us/sexualpredator. The buyer is encouraged to contact the FDLE for further information.
